Inspired by both the natural and manmade environments I utilise drawing, printmaking and photography to capture what I see. I am particularly drawn to different textures, patterns and structures which are used as inspiration for my observational studies. Utilising a range of mixed media techniques enables me to explore and manipulate alternative textures and mark making outcomes which are key to each design.
The designs are reworked and developed by hand to create the final design for the silkscreen print. The screens are then coated in photo sensitive emulsion and once dry are exposed to ultra violet light. Once the screens have been rinsed the process leaves behind the design ready for silkscreen printing.
Silkscreen printing onto Harris Tweed provides a quality fabric which takes the inks exceptionally well to produce a fine quality print. Once printed the Harris Tweed is stitched together by me in my studio to create both individual yet practical pieces to enjoy.
